Strategies as a compass: The CEO Sounding Board and the transformation of ideas

The second CEO Sounding Board of the café+co Group was held on 9 October, an important milestone on our journey. The joint meeting of managers from all areas of the café+co world aimed to create a more in-depth understanding for scenarios, to conduct a lively discussion on the immediate future and to develop specific measures in order to not only achieve this future but also actively shape it. The insight that a strategy is more than just a mere plan was key on this day. Strategies are like a compass that guide us through unknown territory.

The “Strategic Master Guideline”, the result of our café+co Explorer project, is precisely that. The guidelines serve as a compass that shows us how we can navigate through the future.

The brainstorming was the driving motor on this day. Inspired by Alex Osborn’s method “Transforming Ideas” for intensifying brainstorming, no less than 80 ideas were generated. Osborn’s method opened doors to new areas of thinking in which ideas were not only created but also implemented in real life.

After some initial scepticism and the exploration of common bases, the participants were able to deepen their perspectives and understanding on a personal and company level and develop creative ideas over the course of the day.

The CEO Sounding Board was more than just a meeting: It was a promise for the future. A promise that café+co is not only a flourishing and growing service group but also a pioneer for innovation and creativity in the business world. It is now the responsibility of all of us to implement this promise in practice, to set the compass and to navigate the future with creativity and vision.
